When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" I don't get it. Basically the easygroup are saying that if you have an idea that can make money, give it to us. We won't reward you for the idea, we'll just profit from it. Thanks. Why the hell would you send it to them?
So anyway, I've come up with an idea. Niot a great idea, not a world changing idea (not even a devilishly simple idea) but an idea.
I can find nowhere that tells me how to document this idea, not for patent purposes, but for actually documenting the thing so that anyone can pick it up, read it and understand the idea.
So I've come up with my own list of questions which, if answered, I beleive will help lay-out the idea for all the see

- Why is it needed
- Business
- Consumer
- How will it help

ideal for parental control it may be, but what happens if one number is calling you and either hanging up after the second ring (as in girlfriend clare's case) or leaving you a message of nothing but background noise (as in my case). How can we stop a single number calling and disturbing us? Is the only way to stop ourselves from being bothered to sign-up for the inconvenience of rendinering our mobile phone useless?
Another classic case of a system working as efficiently as it possibly can. Ha!

Holy smokes! For the past few weeks I've been thinking about creating a site for my dad (a tiler); only yesterday I decided to actually do it.
Today, 37signals are saying how they'd like to see more sites like that; my dad is a good tiler.
Wish Id be more proactive now a few weeks back - could have gotten some free publicity. Dang!

Using a Day Planner as a Life Planner
Girlfriend Clare pointed out that I've been spending quite a lot of time in front of the tube (read t.v. or iMac) recently and ... well, she's right. Getting home from work at 7pm I just feeling like chilling - out for a few hours. But what a waste ot time that is! I mean, once or twice a week is perfectly healthy but I have started to become a bit of a slob! Actually, Im reminded of Channels 4's Wife Swap programs; every once in a while a wife from a ant-tv family will be swapped with a wife from a pro-tv family and it always amazes me to see how much happier the anti-tv family is; how much more productive.
Anyways, getting to the point, now that I have a phone with a great planner built in (and the ability to sync it with iCal) Im wondering whether I should start to plan things more using my phone?

PledgeBank - Tell the world "I'll do it, but only if you'll help"
The beauty of Danny Wallace's Join Me was that you could do something safe in the knowledge that there'd be a community of people supporting you doing it or even doing it themselves. So if you wanted to feed the homeless, it no longer becomes such a big hurdle because you know they'll be support there for you no matter what happens. Anyway, PledgeBank is a bit like that - safe volunteering for the masses.
